I lipo’d my love handles and I’m telling you the sex has never been so good. I never had body issues when I was younger. I was a tiny size 8 and worked hard to maintain it – barely eating – but my body was great and I always felt confident in my underwear and around men.
But once I became pregnant at 18, I piled on more than six stone. Despite losing three of them after giving birth to my son, I was left with “muffin-top” love handles and boobs like deflated balloons. I was self-conscious in the bedroom too. When we were in bed together I’d make Paul turn off the lights before he came anywhere near me. He’d tell me not to be silly, but I noticed that he was paying me fewer compliments than he used to. Paul and I had been engaged for six years, but I couldn’t get married feeling this way about my body. My only hope was to have plastic surgery – liposuction on my waist, and breast implants.
Paul said I didn’t need it, but he wanted me to be happy. We remortgaged the house to pay for my treatments, the wedding and a new car for Paul. I booked my surgery last February, a year before my wedding – the boob job and lipo cost £7,500, but it was worth it. Standing there in a pair of knickers while the surgeon marked where I’d have the incisions was mortifying. I wouldn’t even let Paul see me naked. But I was desperate for my new body, I just wanted to be happy again.
The op took seven hours. When I woke up I was shaking uncontrollably. My waist was sore and bruised and there were two 16-inch tubes attached to each breast, sucking out all the excess blood to reduce swelling and clots. They were pulled out the following morning, then two hours later I was back at home. My breasts were sore and tender for three weeks afterwards and my waist hurt when I prodded it. Even though I’d had the surgery to look good for my wedding, ironically Paul refused to look at my body at first, because all the bruising made him feel queasy.
I couldn’t wear an underwired bra for four weeks and was given a big pair of Bridget Jones-style knickers to support my waist. A month later I splashed out on loads
of new lingerie – Paul loves me to wear something sexy to bed. Our sex life is back on track and we love my new body. I can’t wait to thrill him on our wedding
night – with the lights on!’

I Had Plastic Surgery to Give me a Flat Stomach!
Tracey Taylor, 39, spent £3,000 on liposculpture to transform her pot belly into a flat stomach. She has two children aged 18 & 14.
Until a couple of years ago I was proud of my figure but I hated my stomach. It was round - a proper pot belly - and no amount of dieting or exercise would make it smaller.
Having kids didn’t help, either - I never felt I got my muscle tone back. My ex-husband used to tell me to hold my stomach in when we went out, and I had a real complex about how I looked. When I hit my 30's, my dress size crept up from a 12 to a 14 and I refused to buy new clothes. I had a problem with the idea of being big, so I stopped shopping all together.
Then when I was 35 a friend of mine had a breast enlargement and uplift and it made me think that plastic surgery might work for me, too. After researching the different procedures available, I went to see a surgeon at Profile Cosmetic Surgery who told me I’d be an ideal candidate for liposculpture, a form of plastic surgery that uses a fine tube to drain the fat from your body.
On the day of the operation I had a general anaesthetic and the surgeon made 5 incisions in my tummy and hips. A tube was then inserted into the holes and using a backwards and forwards motion, the fat was drained off. The whole procedure was over in less than two hours.
It took me 6 weeks to get totally back to normal after the operation. I felt a bit sore for the first week and for 6 weeks afterwards had to wear a special pressure garment, a bit like a pair of cycling shorts to keep things in place and help my body to settle down.
It was all worth it as I instantly loved my new tummy! The pot belly had gone, and I felt fantastic. I started wearing little t-shirts and clingy dresses, and I was flashing my stomach everywhere I went!
These days I eat a healthy diet and do gentle exercise, but I can eat a big fat steak or have a bottle of wine without worrying about my tummy. The procedure cost £3,000 and I know there are people out there that would say I wasted my money, but lipo has made an enormous difference in my life. I don’t have to worry about my stomach anymore and I feel so much more confident. I’m really proud of myself for facing up to my issues and I can honestly say that it’s the best £3,000 I’ve ever spent!

I can not thank enough all the staff at Profile that I have had the pleasure to meet and talk to. From my first phone call to enquire about getting cosmetic surgery to my final result, I have been made to feel like one of the family.
I had spent quite a while searching for surgeons in my area. After making numerous phone calls to many different companies, I found a lot of the reception staff could not answer even the most basic of my questions. I booked an appointment with Mr Iregbulem a few days later. On the day of the surgery Mr Iregbulem came to see me before we went in to theatre and set my mind at rest to any last little worries. I was realistic about what I expected the results to be and the amount of pain I would be in. A few hours after surgery Mr Iregbulem came to see me to check I was ok. This was the first time I saw my result and I was totally amazed, I had never dreamed that it would look so good. Within twelve hours I was able to get out of bed to use the bathroom and I was amazed that the pain was so much less than what I had expected. Mr Iregbulem came to see me again the following day to check my dressing and make sure I was ok and answer any questions I had.
I returned home after two days, I went from strength to strength and have been amazed at how little pain I had after such a big operation. I went back to the Cambridge Private Hospital to see Mr Iregbulem for all my check ups.
I was worried that it was nothing and may be wasting everyone's time. I was so happy with my results that I didn’t want something small to spoil it. However I was a little concerned about my scar and phoned Cheryl, she said to go to the Cambridge private hospital later that day to get it checked out. A nurse at the hospital checked it out for me and said that I was totally fine and I had not wasted there time at all and should I have any worries however small to phone and she would be more than happy to have a look for me.
I am now almost twelve weeks post op and feel great. I know everyone deals with pain and heals in a different way. I normally am a bit of a wimp and feel very sorry for myself when in pain. I am still amazed at my lack of pain and put this down to the skills of Mr Iregbulem. A friend of my husband is a nurse who works with private patients and she said it is the best post operative scar she has ever seen.
I have copies of my before and after photos in my purse and show everyone, I am so happy with my results. I would not hesitate to recommend Profile and I would not use anyone else if I ever wished to have any future surgery.
So again I would like to thank everyone at Profile for their wonderful work and attitude towards their patients. I wouldn't say that my tummy tuck and liposuction has changed my life but I now have so much confidence and love the way I look. I can walk into a room without trying to hide my tummy and that has made a great difference to me.
